I’ve learned a lot in this class! One thing I can say I learned is that instead of writing to the teacher, write to an audience. All of my classmates have been wonderful and I cant believe its over, it went by so fast! I hope everyone does a good job when finishing their presentation and reflective overview. Have a good Summer!!
The evaluations from the presentations we wrote about our fellow classmates really helps! It gives a clear understanding of the rubric and helps me to do my presentation according to the guidelines. So far everyone has done a good job, and I know the end result of everyones project is going to be excellent!
The main thing I would tell the next class of students is to be prepared to type and brainstorm a lot! Also to open your mind to a lot of information because a lot of research will be done. Other than that in a way these portfolios can be very fun, especially the last one.
Rhetorical appeals I plan to use is Ethos and Pathos. How I’m going to use them is by showing the ethics and good character police officers are supposted show and also portray the bad actions some officers use to tug at the audiences heart. To help achieve my purposes I plan to use a sad and gloomy feel to help bring out the “text part” of my video. Then for the “second part” of my video I plan to show a skit portraying police corruption.
At first I wasn’t sure how to come about my project, but by coming to class I constantly saw other people’s videos and it help me form ideas. Mainly I have to form a concrete argument and go off of that. Other than that the diffrent documents that we were to read has also helped me to advance my project.
My reasearch topic is police corruption. I came to this topic is because I have experienced it before in my life. While it was happening, in my head I felt as if there was nothing I could do, and this is what sparked my idea of doing research on police corruption. When it comes to my video, I decided to take a diffrent approach. I came to the idea to make a skit that shows me and my friends who act out police corruption. My role is to play an innocent school kid who is framed for a crime by a corrupt cop. My other friend two friends play police officers. One is good-natured and wants to do everything by the book, while the other plays a dynamic role. He doesn’t abide by the law and abuses his authority constantly. The story goes on by showing the corrupt cop planting weed on the innocent citizen and the good officer recording it to end the bad cop’s career.
For my video presentation I plan on using a different approach. I will be using a sarcastic approach. Sometimes being sarcastic comes of as arogant, so I will make sure i don’t be too sarcatic. The reason I chose to be sarcastic is because it makes people really think about what I’m saying and when I show video segments about my topic it will only strengthen my argument.
